I’m a person who has big hopes and dreams for myself. Lately, I’ve really been thinking about where I want to be in 5-10 years from now. The reason I’ve been thinking about it is because I’ve been preparing for interviews for new jobs and one of the most common questions asked is “where do you see yourself in five years?”.
I have big goals for myself in five to ten years & I wanted to share some of those hopes and dreams with you!
In five years from now I will be 27 years old…. wow. SO my hopes are that, by then, I have started a family (I’ve always been super family oriented so that’s a BIG goal of mine). Career wise, hope to be doing something I’m passionate about. Since I’ve been planning my own wedding, I have found a new love for planning and coordination! I never really realized it, but anytime there’s a big event coming up I always offer to plan it or have it at my place! Home renovations are hard but sooo worth it, I’m hoping to complete some of that within ten years.

Let’s talk some more about family. When I was growing up, I alway envisioned myself as someone who has a big family that is full of love. I never got to experience what it was like to have biological siblings (and I say that because all my BFF’s are my siblings), so I want to have at least two children. I want to have traditional Sunday breakfast together, have meals at the table where we can talk about our day and just overall be a good parent. One of my biggest goals is to have my children trust me and not be scared to tell me things, even if they’ve done something bad.

I want to be in a career where I wake up everyday and think to myself “wow, I love what I do!” Since I am so passionate about weddings, events, coordination and planning, I think my dream career is to become a professional event/wedding planner. I absolutely love having lists, planning, social media and photography. I think these reasons alone are good enough reasons to start my own business! So, five years from now, I am hoping to own my own business where I can plan events and make people happy and have their event stress free!

Another one of my passions is home renovations. I don’t know if it’s possible in five years, but in ten years, I definitely want to build a couple extensions off of our home. I have this vision of having a beautiful drop down living room, with a fire place, big windows and double doors on the side that lead to a patio. I also really REALLY want to extend our entry way (right now it’s so tiny, and even 4 pairs of shoes at the door makes it so cluttered). My vision for this entry way is that it has a sit down bench to take off your shoes, a nice closet (that has mirror doors) to hang up coats and hooks to hang up purses, hats, etc. Home is a really important part of my life and I take pride in how I style and design it.
I hope in 5-10 years I can look back at this post and be happy that I have accomplished these goals! On the other hand, maybe my passions will change and i’ll be wanting completely different things. Who knows! All I know is, is that it’ll be cool to see how my mind set may have changed or stayed the same at 22 vs 27 vs 32.
