So the new craze out there is this Enneagram test. Haven’t heard of it before? It’s basically a test (you can either buy one or do free ones online) that determines which personality type(s) you are. There are nine different types and each type is very different from one another. When you do a test, it tells you which personality type is your most dominant or your “core”, but it also tells you what your “wing” type is. A wing type can be one or two personalities that influence (but not change) the core type.
Here is a list of the nine different personality types (Clicking each one will bring you to an in depth description of each type)
This really intrigued me because I’m all about self discovery and trying to be the best me I can be. Knowing which personality type you are can really help you to understand why you act the way you do and how to better understand yourself. I’ve read all over that the best way to find your personality type is to take multiple tests and to do it once in a while.
The results I got were that I am a 1w3. So basically my core personality is type 1 while my wing is a type 3. Being a type 1 means that I can be a perfectionist, strive for high ideals, critical and organized. While I was reading all of the description of a type one, it matched with everything I do. It really helped me to understand why I can be so impatient and self-critical. As for a type 3, they are goal-oriented, ambitious, energetic and optimistic. They are also self-assured but with being a type 1, I don’t really see myself as self-assured.

Three’s want to accomplish all of their goals and they are focused on success. I find success very hard because I want everything I do to be perfect. If I want to put something out into the world and I find that it is just “subpar”, I probably won’t show it off. This is something that I am trying to change and I’ve realized that everyone starts from somewhere and no one is the best at the beginning. It takes practice and trial and error to create and release things that considered to be “perfect”.
Personal growth is something that is really important to me, so understanding who I am as a person is key to continuing my growth. I loved taking these tests because it was actually really fun to see how I actually am. I didn’t think I was a type one but I kept on getting that as my core personality every time I would take a test.
