How To Make Beautiful Wedding Decor Out Of Dollar Store Letters

From the moment I got engaged, I knew that I wanted to make the bulk of my decor. There is something so special about having pieces that you made at your own wedding. I also enjoy doing crafts so it was also a lot of fun!

I knew for our head table that I wanted Mr & Mrs letters on them. I looked around on Kijiji and Facebook market and everything seemed so overprices and not what I was looking for at all.

I actually found these letters at a dollar store in a small town. I wasn’t initially looking for anything specific but I found these for only $1.00 a piece! They were just plain wood and I knew I had to do something to them to make them look a little fancier

The first thing I did was glued the bottoms of the letters to a piece of scrap wood I had laying around (so that they wouldn’t fall over in the night)

My dad had originally cut a bunch of these for my garden, but they turned out to be the perfect size
In retrospect I probably should have used super glue or wood glue, but hot glue worked out perfectly!

After I glued them, I decided I wanted to go with black paint so they would stand out against the white linens

Also had some of this spray paint around so I didn’t have to go out and buy some!

I had to do a few coats to make sure you couldn’t see any of the wood and so that it would all be even. After it dried, it looked really nice and waaaay more expensive that it actually was.

All in all, for less than $10.00 I think this DIY turned out to be so cute. They gave our table such a homey vibe and I loved how they looked.
